Welcome to Holzmann Arts
Welcome to Vienna, welcome to HOLZMANN ARTS!
In recent years HOLZMANN ARTS has been involved in a number of international projects of artists such as Heinrich Schiff, the 12 cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg.
One of our main areas of expertise is Viennese music, and we cooperate closely with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Boys’ Choir, and leading members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.

My name is Michael Holzmann and I was born in Attnang-Puchheim (Upper Austria). At the age of ten I started playing the cello, a decision that proved key to my future life, and succeeded in winning competitions such as “Jugend musiziert”. After finishing grammar school, I began my studies of the cello with Prof. Wilfried Tachezi at Mozarteum Salzburg.
In 1993 having completed half of my Cello studies, and having obtained my first diploma, I came to Vienna to join the class of Prof. Wolfgang Herzer (principal cellist of Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra) at the Musikhochschule Wien. I always tried to get as much practical experience as possible; during my studies in Vienna I had the pleasure to join the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra as a substitute. I graduated from the Musikhochschule Wien with Magister artium, the topic of my thesis was: “Enlightenment, Revolution und Heroism“, on the personality and work of L. v. Beethoven.
In addition to my career as a performer, I became interested in music management, so I started a music festival in Upper Austria. As a musician and cellist I also founded various ensembles like the TRIO IMPOSSIBILE and the WIENER SALONIKER. For these ensembles I organized concert-tours to South- and Middle America (Mexiko, Venezuela, Colombia, Panamá, Brazil), Portugal, England (London), Norway, Estonia, Belarus, Kasachstan, Moskau, to Turkey, to Kuwait City, Riyadh, Samarkand, China, Indonesia and others.
At the beginning of 2002 I started my own artists’ agency called HOLZMANN ARTS. There have already been interesting cooperations with famous artists such as Heinrich Schiff, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Boys Choir, the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, or various ensembles taken from the ranks of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the 12 cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
However I continued to perform as well, I was part of the Bruckner Orchestra Linz from 2000 to 2005 as well as I have been playing with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra for many years.
